A state-of-the-art information point has been launched in Knutsford in a bid to boost the town’s tourism.

the Info Pod is a mobile means of accessing tourist information about Knutsford and the surrounding area.

The device is similar to an iPad and is secured into a metal case and stand so that it can be moved around the town.

The aim is to log the number of hits received in each location so that it can be placed in the optimum position.

When accessed, the Info Pod plays a promotional video showcasing all that Knutsford has to offer to tourists.

Councillor Jamie Macrae, Cabinet member with responsibility for prosperity, said: “This is a brilliant idea. It’s just what Knutsford needs to help keep tourism buoyant and I would urge locals to direct visitors to this useful facility.”

The Info Pod has been funded by Cheshire East Council’s Recession Recovery Group (£3,000) and from Knutsford Town Council (£3,000) and is currently based at Knutsford’s Heritage Centre.
